These scholarships are designed to support your journey back to the roots you cherish. We recognize the critical importance of ensuring Black families have access to Midwives, Doulas & Birth Assistants who look like them. Our scholarship recipients are dedicated and passionate about serving Black families and their newborns in the DC, MD & VA Area.

Scholorship Qualifications:

To apply, you must identify as Black, African-American, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latina or Nubian. You must reside in Maryland, D.C or Virgina and plan to support local families upon completion of your program. Please review the additional specific requirements for your chosen scholarship.

Aum Doula Training Scholarship

This partial scholarship provides tiered tuition assistance, covering between 20-50% towards program fees.

• Experience: No prior birth experience needed

AUM Birth Assistant Training Scholarship

This partial scholarship provides tiered tuition assistance, covering between 20-50% towards program fees.

• Experience: Must Provide proof of a current doula certification and have attended a minimum of 5 births.

Midwifery Student Scholarship

We aim to reduce the obstacles you might encounter on your path to becoming a midwife. These challenges may include, but are not limited to, tuition fees, mentorship opportunities, housing, transportation, and childcare.

• Enrollment: Must be actively enrolled in a program and or PEP route with an active preceptor.

• Experience: Must have attended a minimum of three births (in any capacity: Doula, Birth Assistant, family member or friend)

• Academics: Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for future scholarships and or progress with current preceptor for PEP.

Midwifery Scholarship Coverage

• Phase 1: Scholarship will pay up to $1,500

• Phase 2: Scholarship will pay up to $2,500

• Phase 3/4: Scholarship will pay up to $5,000
