      • Weeks 28–36: Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks)

      • Week 36 or 37: Home Visit (preparing your space)

      • Weeks 37–Birth: Weekly

    • Prenatal Wellness Kit

    • Full clinical monitoring, including blood pressure, fetal growth, and heartbeat checks.

    • In-home lab work, genetic screening, ultrasounds and referrals for diagnostic ultrasounds.

    • Birth Kit & Birth Pool provide at your 36 week visit

    • 24/7 On-Call Availability:

      • From the moment you sign your contract, your midwife is on-call 24 hours a day.

      • This includes availability for urgent phone consultations and non-emergency guidance as you enter the final weeks of pregnancy.

    • Expert Birth Attendance:

      • Every birth is attended by a licensed midwife and a qualified assistant (often a second licensed midwife or a trained professional birth assistant).

      • Your team provides intermittent clinical monitoring and safety assessments for both parent and baby once active labor begins

      • Clinical safety measures include intermittent monitoring of fetal heart tones & tracking maternal vitals.

    • Immediate Postpartum Care (2–4 Hours):

      • The birth team stays with you for several hours following delivery to ensure both parent and baby are stable.

      • Care includes monitoring for postpartum hemorrhage, facilitating immediate skin-to-skin bonding, and assisting with the first breastfeeding session.

      • Before leaving, your midwife will perform a comprehensive head-to-toe newborn exam.

  • After your birth, we provide intensive follow-up care in your home to ensure a smooth recovery and a healthy start for your baby.

    The Visit Schedule

    • 24–36 Hours: Your first check-up focuses on physical stabilization and initial screenings.

    • Days 3 & 7: These visits prioritize feeding success, weight tracking, and emotional support.

    • Weeks 2, 4, & 6: Ongoing monitoring of your recovery and your baby’s growth.

What We Assess at Each Visit

    For the Birthing Person:

    • Physical Recovery: We monitor vitals, uterine involution (the uterus returning to size), and the healing of any tears or sutures.

    • Lactation Support: Comprehensive help with latch, positioning, and breast health to meet your feeding goals.

    • Emotional Well-being: Ongoing screenings for postpartum mood disorders and space to process your birth story.

    For the Newborn:

    • Clinical Wellness: We track weight gain, umbilical cord healing, and screen for jaundice.

    • Heart Screening (CCHD): Performed at the first home visit (24–48 hours) to ensure healthy heart function.

    • Hearing Screening: We provide professional, non-invasive hearing screenings in home. So gentle, we can test while your baby sleeps. You will have instant results after the test concludes.

    • Blood Spot Screening: We provide the essential newborn blood spot screening—a quick, safe heel prick that checks for rare but serious metabolic and genetic conditions. Identifying these early is key to ensuring your baby receives immediate care if needed, often before any symptoms even appear.

    • Vital Records: We handle the official filing of the birth certificate and Social Security card application.

  • Our final visit is a comprehensive "well-person" check-up designed to ensure you are thriving and fully supported as you transition out of the immediate postpartum period.

    • Physical Recovery Assessment: A final clinical check on uterine healing, abdominal muscle recovery, and pelvic floor health.

    • Preventative Wellness (The "Well-Person" Option): If you are due for routine screenings, we can perform a Pap smear, cervical cancer screening, and breast/chest exam in the comfort of your home.

    • Family Planning & Sexual Health: A private discussion regarding contraception options, menstrual health, and your goals for future family building.

    • Mental Health Check-in: A dedicated screening for emotional wellness and a review of your ongoing support systems.

    • Care Transition: We provide a seamless "hand-off" of your birth and postpartum records to your Primary Care Provider to ensure continuity for your long-term health.

    • Nutrition & Wellness: We provide personalized counseling on nutrient-dense whole foods, optimal hydration, and vitamins (like iron and folate) to support your energy and the baby’s development.

    • Body Preparation: Guidance on safe prenatal exercise, pelvic floor health, and optimal fetal positioning to prepare your body for an efficient labor.

    • Comfort Measures: Education on non-pharmacological pain management, including breathing techniques, hydrotherapy, and movement strategies.

    • Informed Decision-Making: We discuss the benefits and risks of every test, screening, and procedure, ensuring you are a full partner in your care.

    • Newborn Readiness: Practical education on infant sleep safety, breastfeeding/chestfeeding mechanics, and identifying normal vs. concerning newborn behaviors.

    • Postpartum Planning: Strategies for a restorative "Fourth Trimester," including the "5-5-5 rule" for rest, emotional wellness screening, and community resource referrals

Monitrice Care

Monitrice services fill a unique gap by offering the clinical expertise of a midwife along with the emotional support of a doula to those planning a hospital birth. A monitrice provides comprehensive prenatal education and, uniquely, comes to the home during early labor to check vitals, assess cervical dilation, and monitor fetal heart tones. This allows families to labor at home for as long as possible before heading to the hospital, avoiding early admission and potential unnecessary interventions. Once at the hospital, the monitrice switches to a non-clinical, doula-only role to provide advocacy, support, and comfort, and they often return to offer in-home postpartum care.

    • One-hour, unhurried visits in your home.

      • Weeks 8–36: Monthly (every 4 weeks)

      • Weeks 36–40: Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks)

    • Full clinical monitoring, including blood pressure, fetal growth, and heartbeat checks.

    • 24/7 On-Call Availability:

      • From the moment you sign your contract, your midwife is on-call 24 hours a day.

      • This includes availability for urgent phone consultations and non-emergency guidance as you enter the final weeks of pregnancy.

      • Your team provides intermittent clinical monitoring and safety assessments for both parent and baby once active labor begins

      • Clinical safety measures include intermittent monitoring of fetal heart tones, tracking maternal vitals, and providing non-pharmacological pain relief options like hydrotherapy and massage.

    • Safety Screening: Identifying early signs of complications that may require a medical shift or an earlier hospital arrival.

    Non-Clinical Support (Home & Hospital)

Once you arrive at the hospital, the monitrice shifts into a supportive role—similar to a doula—while the hospital staff takes over primary clinical management.

    • Physical Comfort: Assisting with positioning, massage, and hydrotherapy to manage labor sensations.

    • Partner Support: Guiding your partner on how to effectively support you through each stage of labor.

    • Advocacy & Communication: Helping you navigate hospital policies and facilitating clear, empowered communication with the medical team.

    • Informed Decision-Making: Providing unbiased information on medications and procedures so you can make confident choices in real-time.

    • Immediate Postpartum Care: Remaining with you for 1–2 hours after birth to assist with initial breastfeeding and skin-to-skin bonding.

  • After your birth, we provide intensive follow-up care in your home to ensure a smooth recovery and a healthy start for your baby.
